NEU NOW nacht offers a night of art, activism, conversation and dance within the walls of our gallery and theatre space.
On the evening of Saturday 16 September, NEU NOW invites visitors to enjoy an artsy late-night programme hosted by TraffaMaffia x GenderBendingQueerParty to complement the performances of our artists.
Bring your mind and your body – we’ll tickle them both during this packed programme where the art of party truly comes full circle. We welcome you to a night of subversive fun, featuring experimental explorations of space and body, intimate art sessions with Patty Morgan and cute strangers, unexpected performances, drag queens extraordinaire and music so funky you’ll have no choice but to werk. Even better? The NEU NOW gallery space will be open the entire night, whilst our film programme will be screening on loop.
Kicking off with three performances by NEU NOW artists, the early nacht will be filled with provocative art interrogating the colourful outcome of our expressions of individuality, including the intriguing facets of identity formation and our addiction to social media. As if this night couldn’t get any better, the outrageously fabulous trio TraffaMafia in collaboration with GenderBendingQueerParty will present a curated roster of dazzling acts, guerrilla style pop-up acts and musical revelry – so don’t be a drag, be a queen.

This brother and sister duo's performance is the result of a two-year-long investigation into the relations between image and sound. Unikat delves further into an exploration of identity and body politics.

Beauty & the Beast by Enis Turan
Let's talk about gender baby.
A staging. A deconstruction. A reflection. A freak show: a queer anthem for freedom and individuality. Inspired by the freak shows of the 19th century, Turan's Beauty & the Beast twists and dissolves existing concepts of 21st-century normality, in a performance that lies between the subtle edges of parody, irony, sincerity and honesty.

Art Club Ultra - works in progress (vol. 2) hosted by Franky D'miedo by Franco Cortez
Franco Cortez, performing as host Franky D’miedo, interviews self-taught or formally trained artists as part of an art battle in the format of a talk show. The artist appropriates ideograms and memes from social media as theatrical props as he investigates (among other aspects) the accessibility of art both online and offline.

TraffaMafia
NEU NOW nacht co-curators TraffaMafia are known to light up a dancefloor or two. Consisting of Amsterdam-based DJs and drag queens Nancy Goreng and Hoax + Heisa Jynx of Tranny 4/7, the club NYX residents will offer up an unforgettable evening. Featuring Jake Credit of the band FATA BOOM, you won't want to miss this! There is no doubt. The Queens of TraffaMafia will rock your night.

GenderBendingQueerParty
The GenderBendingQueerParty crew hails from Rotterdam – a bunch of messy gender clowns with a serious mission: creating welcoming party spaces for non-conforming clubkids and other deviants. They will be staging activations, interventions and holding space throughout the evening.

Patty Morgan Boardroom Sessions
The crazy pots over at Patty Morgan will attend our illustrious festival for an artsy discussion session where you have the chance to flatter or diss the artwork on show in a casual environment. If you're confused about an artwork or just looking to vent about the state of contemporary politics and your broken bike, you may do so here in the presence of cute strangers.

As you take a break from your dance session in our gallery, we'll keep you stimulated with our exhibition of 13 diverse visual/multi-media works. The subject matter ranges from critiques on contemporary issues to surprising stimulations of the senses.
